Marine (Seafarer) Medical Examination
Certification, with-or-without limitations, will be provided to the seafarer at the conclusion of the test. The completed marine medical examination report will be sent to the Marine Personnel Standards, Pilotage & Medicine Branch of Transport Canada Marine Safety and Security for review and issuance of a marine medical certificate and/or a supporting letter.
Who conducts this service?
Marine medical examinations are conducted by TriMedical physicians who have been certified by Transport Canada.
How much is the service?
TriMedical offers assessments at a competitive industry rate. However, marine medical examination costs are dependent on the specific requirements of each case.
Who pays for the service?
The cost of a marine medical examination falls outside the coverage provided by MSP. However, if your employer covers the costs, TriMedical can offer direct billing.
YOU MUST BRING THE FOLLOWING TO YOUR APPOINTMENT:
1. Photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport.
2. A list of any medications you are taking.
Marine medical examinations include the testing of visual acuity, colour vision, hearing, and other physical requirements.
Marine medical examinations are conducted by marine medical examiners in accordance with Transport Canada regulations. Our goal is to have you quickly into our clinic for a fast and thorough assessment so you can get back to work.
